For Adults Grieving children need the support, care and compassion of loving adults, who are often grieving too. Perhaps the first thing to understand is that children express grief differently than adults. Sometimes, the differences make it difficult to know what to say or do to help. The death of a loved one can be overwhelming for each family member. Sharing memories and feelings as a family group can help you feel closer to each other when you are hurting. One thing to begin to do with your child right now is to listen. Young children will share feelings, thoughts, and confusion through play.
