CBEM Leading Cause of Death Data Tables
Our CBEM data tables provide a reference for exploring childhood bereavement rates by leading causes of death at the national level. The tables display current and projected bereavement prevalence estimates by leading cause of death by ages 18 and 25.
The CBEM generates three distinct estimates:
- Projected CBEM prevalence rates reflect the number and percent of youth who will experience the death of a parent or sibling. Projected results help prepare for future demands of services, grief resources, a qualified workforce, and advocacy efforts.
- Current CBEM prevalence rates reflect the number and percent of youth who have already experienced the death of a parent or sibling. Current results support resource allocation and development efforts now.
- Snapshot CBEM prevalence rates reflect the number of youth who have experienced a parent death loss within the defined time period, generally a calendar year.
