We Are All Connected: Marti Colpitts
septiembre 14, 2021
Meet Marti Colpitts who is celebrating her ten-year Judi’s House volunteer anniversary! Her love of children and seeing families heal at Judi’s House are prime motivators for her to spend time with us. When not assisting as a Family Greeter or Companion Volunteer, Marti can be found hiking in Estes Park and Breckenridge or spending time with her grandchildren. Thank you, Marti, for your years of service and the compassion you show everyone who walks through our doors.
How did you first become connected with Judi’s House?
I have been a big fan of the Broncos for many years, including when Brian Griese was Quarterback. I learned of Judi’s House from the wonderful pieces 9News did about Brian and Brook Griese and how Judi’s House came to be. I felt drawn to be a volunteer at this healing place.
What is your volunteer role?
Pre-COVID, I enjoyed assisting with children and teen groups as a Companion Volunteer. I also helped with free time, snack time, and cleanup following groups. It is wonderful and hope-filled to share such time with children of all ages. Currently, I help direct families to their meeting locations. I look forward to being in group with the kids again!
What would you tell someone who is considering volunteering with Judi’s House?
Volunteering at Judi’s House has been the most meaningful experience for me. The training I received was so great and thorough. I love being with children and it is a joy to see them grow through their time at Judi’s House and to understand it is not only ok, but important and healing to talk about their death loss. Judi’s House is such a safe and healing place.
Why do you volunteer?
It is meaningful to me to give back. I have been supported and loved by friends, teachers, and counselors in my life and I want to give back some of what I have been given. Judi’s House is a very special place. I am thankful so many families are experiencing emotional support and healing there.
