Judi’s House/JAG Institute Strengthens Understanding of Childhood Bereavement Across United States
DENVER, Colo. | February 25, 2022
A recognized leader in childhood bereavement research and practice, Metro Denver’s Judi’s House/JAG Institute, launched the Childhood Bereavement Changemaker (CBC) initiative in 2019 to empower bereavement agencies nationwide to use data to inform decision making. With philanthropic support from New York Life Foundation and in collaboration with the National Alliance for Children’s Grief, the 2022-2023 CBC program will support 30 grief-centered organizations in the U.S. to grow their capacity for data collection and program evaluation through a series of workshops and collaborative learning sessions.
“Combining 20 years of experience in designing bereavement-focused evaluation protocols with the power of the Childhood Bereavement Estimation Model®, JAG Institute will share best practices in data collection, data utilization and program evaluation with three distinct Changemaker cohorts,” said Laura Landry, PhD, director of evaluation and research for Judi’s House/JAG Institute.
Over the course of a year, participating organizations will gain access to the knowledge and resources necessary to create efficient data processes to tell their story, identify service gaps and target funding opportunities. These new Changemakers will become part of an extended alumni network aimed at instilling a robust learning community to elevate data discussion in the childhood bereavement field.
“By establishing a culture that values and supports data for successful design and implementation of evaluation strategies, the Changemaker initiative will move the childhood bereavement field closer to a vision of no child alone in grief,” Dr. Landry continued.
