We Are All Connected: Dick & Jeanne Saunders
November 19, 2021
Dick and Jeanne Saunders have been stalwart supporters of Judi’s House for more than a decade. Deeply invested in organizations supporting the trajectory of young people, Judi’s House aligns well with their personal passions. In 2020, the Saunders made a significant gift to the capital campaign – helping lay a strong foundation for our home for the future. Dick and Jeanne’s thoughtful philanthropic support impacts the lives of grieving children and families in our community and beyond. Read more from Dick below.
What was it that spurred your initial involvement with Judi’s House?
Jeanne and I have always placed a very high importance on supporting kids and education. I have been on 12 nonprofit boards throughout my career and have spent a lot of time serving the communities in which we live and work. The mission of Judi’s House has always interested us and being members of Brian’s Quarterback Club encouraged us to become annual donors. Over the years it has been an extraordinary treat to learn more about the work that has been accomplished for grieving families and get to know Co-Founders, Brian and Brook.
Why do you choose to invest in Judi’s House?
Our engagement through various events has led to a passion for the mission and vision of Judi’s House. We are very impressed with the professionalism of the organization and whenever we can invest in the future of children’s lives, we are there – front and center. We see the long-term impact that Judi’s House will have on many generations.
In addition to our support of Judi’s House, Jeanne is currently on the Denver Public Schools Foundation Board, and both of us are very involved with Colorado UpLift. As one of three UpLift founders, I still work diligently to support that effort to foster meaningful relationships with at-risk youth.
What excites you the most about the capital campaign?
We are thrilled the campaign is over 80% to goal and that construction has started! We are honored to help build a campus for all future Judi’s House efforts.
What is your favorite memory of the current Judi’s House home?
Jeanne and I enjoyed a beautiful luncheon in the Judi’s House Garden with other campaign supporters after the groundbreaking. It was special because we spent quality time in a friendly family place with friends we had not seen in some time, all while supporting a great cause.
