Blackbaud Security Breach

August 7, 2020

Judi’s House/JAG Institute was recently notified that donor information may have been involved in a security incident at Blackbaud, a vendor used by Judi’s House and scores of other nonprofits for fundraising and communications. Blackbaud detected a ransomware attack on its systems in May 2020. Although Blackbaud was able to contain the attack, some information may have been removed from Blackbaud’s servers during this incident.

Blackbaud did not inform its clients of this incident until mid-July 2020. We worked diligently to identify who may have been affected and to alert those individuals whose data may have been present on Blackbaud’s affected systems once we were informed.

The information that was on the Blackbaud servers affected by this cyberattack may have included information such as donor name, date of birth, address, contact information, and giving history.

Based on statements from Blackbaud, we have no reason to believe that the information involved in this incident has been misused. We are alerting our community out of an abundance of caution. We take seriously our responsibility to safeguard personal information and remain committed to protecting the privacy and security of the information entrusted to us.

Please contact development@judishouse.org if you have questions or concerns regarding this matter.
