Empowering childhood bereavement organizations to use data, build evaluation capacity, and strengthen care nationwide

Meet the Changemakers | Changemaker Impact | Changemaker Stories

The Childhood Bereavement Changemakers (CBC) initiative is a national capacity-building program designed to strengthen evaluation practices across the childhood bereavement field. Launched by Judi’s House/JAG Institute in partnership with the New York Life Foundation and the National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG), Changemakers empowers organizations to use data more effectively to measure outcomes, demonstrate impact, and inform decision-making.

Through training, individualized support, and peer learning, participating organizations build the skills and systems needed to collect meaningful data, evaluate their programs, and tell compelling stories about the children and families they serve. By strengthening evaluation capacity, Changemakers helps organizations identify opportunities for growth, improve services, and make a stronger case for investment and support.

More than a professional development opportunity, Changemakers is cultivating a national community of leaders committed to learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Together, these organizations are advancing evidence-informed childhood bereavement care and strengthening support for grieving children and families across the country.

Strengthening Evaluation, Expanding Impact

Changemakers produces measurable improvements in organizational evaluation capacity. Participants also reported maintaining higher levels of evaluation readiness one year after completing the initiative, demonstrating that the skills and systems developed through Changemakers create lasting impact.
