Under the leadership of Judi’s House Grief Counselors, Companion Volunteers work directly with our clients providing support to staff counselors or master’s level trainees as they facilitate children’s grief support groups.

Due to the nature of the work, this position requires volunteers to follow an application and background check process, as well as commit to at least one year in the position. Judi’s House recruits and onboards one cohort of Companion Volunteers per year with limited availability.

The is an ideal opportunity for caring, consistent, skilled adults to offer support to grieving children and grief counselors in a group setting.

Requirement for Volunteering

Companion Volunteers are selected through an application process (outlined below) and onboarded once per year. This volunteer opportunity requires a 1 year (4 quarter) commitment after completing the training and onboarding requirements. Ideally, Companion Volunteers begin actively volunteering in the summer of each year.

Judi’s House’s Connections and Pathfinders groups take place Monday-Thursday evenings from 5:30 – 8:30p.m.

Judi’s Rainbow groups take place Thursday afternoons from 3:15 – 4:15pm.

We strongly encourage that Companion Volunteers are present for all sessions of their assigned group(s) each quarter; however, we understand absences may occur and we will reach out prior to scheduling each quarter to confirm availability.
